Blurb/Synopsis:
What do you do if Fate gives you a second chance at the love of your life? Do you learn from past mistakes, or do you
relive them? Nicole Winters is about to
find out. After suffering severe
injuries in a car accident, she is lucky to be alive. She has to return to her home town to
recover, only to discover her family has been withholding information and the
doctor on her case is none other than her college sweetheart, Jason Marrow. The man she dumped right before graduating
from law school and leaving Texas. Once
back in her hometown, Nicole realizes that she has allowed the ghosts of her
childhood to rule her life. As she faces
her past, and with the help of her family and friends, she realizes the love
between her and Jason never faded. Can
they recapture what they had and build on it?
Can she move beyond the past and Learn to Love Again?
She stared at him in wonder and then looked away. “I didn’t have anything else to go by. And what I felt when I was with you…I was
scared,” she whispered. “I never even
had a boyfriend until you came along.”
With a sigh, he tugged on her hands until she stepped into
his arms. He wrapped them around her and
held her close. “I never meant to scare
you away. What I felt for you, I knew it
was intense but you were so…secretive, I guess is the word. You never talked to me about your feelings or
the past. So much wasted time,” he
murmured, rubbing her back and shoulders, feeling the tension.
Allowing herself to relax, Nicole leaned into him and he
shifted to support most of the weight.
He reached up and framed her face with his hands, tilting her head back
until he could see her eyes. “We could
try again, start over?” he questioned.
Without a word or breaking eye contact, she nodded her
agreement.
Where do the ideas for your books come from?
So many different
places—music/ songs that I listen to, things that have
happened to me, things that have happened to people I know, things that I’ve
seen happen in the news or maybe in even in movies that have made me think, I
wonder what would happen if…and we’re off and running!
Have you ever co-written book/books? If so was it difficult?
If not would you ever consider co-writing with another author?
No, I’m not sure
anyone could put up with me long enough to co-write with me! My thought process can be all over the place
sometimes and I will change a scene a million times before I like it.
Where do you get your character names from?
I have used childhood
friends’ names, family names (or versions of their names), and even street
signs to help with coming up with names in my stories. I’ve even been known to go through baby name
lists and books.
What type of research goes into your writing?
Whatever it
takes. I’ve asked doctors and nurses
I’ve worked with for some of the information on the medical stuff that I didn’t
already know, used the internet for help with other information.
Are your family and friends supportive of your writing?
They’ve been very
supportive. I couldn’t do this without
them. My husband has been great. And my kids keep telling everyone that I’m a
writer now.
Do you remember when your interest in writing came about?
I have always enjoyed
writing stories, even back in high school.
Instead of taking notes, I wrote stories.
Other than writing what are your interest?
Reading and spending time with my family. My kids are getting involved in team sports
now, so I’m learning a lot about lacrosse and volleyball right now.
Did you learn anything from writing your books, if so what
was it?
I’m
learning that I have so many more stories to tell, and so many characters left
to tell them!
What are your current WIP? Can you share with us?
Right now, I am
working on a story for Jack and a love interest for him. Her name is Bayleigh and she is Jason’s
half-sister. They both have a lot of
issues to work through—he’s been a loner for a lot of years, not letting anyone
close for many reasons that even he’s not really admitting to; she’s getting
over a personal attack that she hasn’t wanted to admit to her brother that
happened.

Kelli grew up all over the East Coast but her
family finally settled in Cincinnati long enough for her to finish high school
and college. She has always loved to read books and write her own
stories. In high school, she used to
pass around the latest chapter of the story she was writing for her friends to
read. There is more than one high school
teacher out there that can probably remember telling her to put the book down
and pay attention to the lectures.
Graduating from the University of Cincinnati with her BS in Nursing, she left Ohio for Texas and the U.S. Army. She received a medical discharge for a knee injury, but was able to meet the man she'd one day call her husband first--thanks to some mutual friends who insisted they would perfect together. And what do you know--they are! She continued to read books by the dozens and write her own stories. And then one day, a friend dared her to enter a contest. She didn’t win, but the feedback she received from the judges convinced her that maybe people were interested in the stories she wanted to tell. She still lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two children and 2 dogs.
