EXTREME DESTRUCTION AT THE X-GAMES

Aspen, CO - January 24, 2013

Participants and spectators alike had gathered for the events on the slopes of Aspen, all looking forward to a thrilling morning of snowmobiling, ski jumps, and concerts nestled into the packed snow of this year’s X-Games.

What they weren’t prepared for was a disaster of epic proportions, resulting in multiple severe injuries and horrific fatalities.

Per the ANGEL Project’s statement, a group of five genetically enhanced individuals not associated with the US Government’s program launched an attack on the event. The first strike was at the Snocross snowmobiling course, where practice runs were being conducted. The three leading snowmobiles were launched into the air by a material manipulator, flinging the vehicles and their drivers towards spectators at the Snocross course and SBD Street as well as the Slopestyle crowd. Simultaneously, the X-Fest stage erupted into flames as another attack was begun amidst the concert-goers.

Fortunately, based on a tip received from an enemy insider, ANGELs were in the crowd, preemptively seeking out the perpetrators. When they struck, the US’s best defense was already there and able to head off some of the damage. Reports from witnesses are scattered and confusing, but there were confirmed sightings of the Pavo Team’s Gabriel Vandermeer, as well as Sarah Urban from the Corvus Team, in several accounts. The rest of the ANGELs in attendance are unknowns, possibly from the most recent recruits. There were reports of fire, water, confusion, and flying metal from all angles, so speculation on the ANGELs actions remains until further press releases are given by the ANGEL Project.

Injuries from debris and fire abound, but the casualties were primarily limited to X-Games staff and participants. The three snowmobile competitors thrown from their vehicles all sustained broken bones and internal bleeding, but are all in stable condition. The band on stage at the time of the attack, Lancelot’s Ruin, all perished, as did five crew members that were behind the scenes, with dozens of others being treated for severe burn damage. Most of the crowd injuries were sustained in the rush to evacuate the grounds.

Had it not been for the intervention of the ANGELs, the cost of human life would have been far worse. It has only proven that now, more than ever, the country desperately needs these superheroes, and must only look to increase their ranks to fight against these threats. No longer do we most fear guns and bombs, the work of human hands, but the evil that is wrought by hands of the uncontrolled superhuman.
