Author: Andrew Grey
Series: Standalone
Genre:  M/M, Contemporary Romance, Western
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Release Date: Feb 15 2016
Edition/Formats Available In: eBook & Print
Blurb/Synopsis:
Aubrey Klein is in real trouble—he needs some fast money to save the family ranch. His solution? A weekend job as a stripper at a club in Dallas. For two shows each Saturday, he is the star as The Lone Rancher.
It leads to at least one unexpected revelation: after a show, Garrett Lamston, an old friend from school, approaches the still-masked Aubrey to see about some extra fun… and Aubrey had no idea Garrett was gay. As the two men dodge their mothers’ attempts to set them up with girls, their friendship deepens, and one thing leads to another.
Aubrey know his life stretching between the ranch and the club is a house of cards. He just hopes he can keep it standing long enough to save the ranch and launch the life—and the love—he really hopes he can have.

“Ladies, gentlemen, and those of you who have yet to make up your minds,” the master of ceremonies quipped over the loudspeaker. It was an old joke, and one Aubrey had heard each and every Saturday night. Activity buzzed around him, but Aubrey kept his mind focused on the task at hand. “We have an amazing lineup for you tonight.” A whoop went up from the gathered crowd, shaking the walls. “And we all know who you’re waiting for….”
Another, louder yell made the floor vibrate. Excitement ramped up inside him, and Aubrey took a step closer to the stage entrance. He knew the shtick that went on—it was all designed to get the crowd fired up.
“Should I bring him out at the end of the show?”
The resulting sound was deafening. “Now!”
“I can’t hear you,” he sang, and the crowd became even louder. “All right, you asked for him, and here he is. The one… the only… the cowboy who can light my prairie on fire anytime he wants. The Lone Rancher!”
Music pumped and the stage went dark as Audrey raced on. When the lights flashed on, the crowd of men in front of him went wild. He snapped his hips to one side, and men yelled, jumping up and down to the beat of the music. He began to move, pumping his fists and snapping his hips to the beat in a raucous, salacious impersonation of ass-slapping sex, the fringe on his chaps flapping wildly. Then he turned around to give them a clear view of his jeans-clad ass framed in chaps and pumped his hips, clenching his cheeks, making them do a little dance in the denim that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
His vest was the first to go. Aubrey peeled it away, twirling it over his head as he rolled his hips, moving his entire body to the pounding beat that filled him. He knew his routines by heart, so he let go, sinking deep into himself and just going with what felt good. He kicked his boots into the wings and then removed the chaps in a flash of leather that sailed across the stage, landing just out of sight of the crowd. Now in just his checked shirt, jeans, hat, and, of course, the mask he wore the entire time he was in the club, he whirled around, his back to the crowd, and pulled at his shirt, spreading it wide, letting it slip off his shoulders. He shimmied it back and forth, then whipped back to face the audience, pulling the shirt closed as he did.

Aubrey’s eyes cut to the side. The smell of metal and triumph permeated through his car, but he could claim neither. It belonged to the guy on the other side of the gun that was currently pressed to Aubrey’s temple. Remaining calm, he rifled through his memory banks, trying to remember if he’d pissed off anyone in particular recently, and whether or not waiting in a car armed with a gun was their style.
“Put both of your hands on the steering wheel.” Aubrey didn’t move.
“Don’t even think about being a hero. Do it.” To drive his point home, the guy pushed the gun in tighter.
Being a good hostage, Aubrey put his hands in position, and was on the verge of fading away when a metal bracelet was snapped onto one of his wrists. Squinting at it closely, he studied the runes inscribed in the steel.
It was an incantation to prevent fading. Whoever this guy was, Aubrey now knew he was a god.
Hating the feel of the cold metal against his wrist, he said, “I don’t believe we’ve met.” The gun was pressed harder into his temple and Aubrey ground his teeth. “That’s going to leave a mark.”
“Be thankful that’s all it’s going to leave . . . for now.”
“Look, as much as I’d like to sit here with you in my garage all night and chat like girls, I do actually have somewhere to be.”
There was a small growl of – irritation? Even Aubrey knew it wasn’t a good idea to piss off the god holding a gun to his skull.
“You aren’t going anywhere right now.”
“All right. Can we at least get out of my car? I’d hate to get blood all over the upholstery if I can avoid it.”
“You talk a lot,” the god said, easing off Aubrey’s temple just a little. The movement caused blood to rush to the point of pressure, making his head throb in time with his galloping pulse. “That might serve you well . . . but then again . . .” He ground the metal back into Aubrey’s skull. “Maybe it’ll just make me kill you a whole lot quicker once your usefulness has worn out.”
So that was the plan? “Who do you work for?”
“Myself.”
“And who are you?” Aubrey tried again to get a name.
The god laughed. “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
“Try me.”
“Loki.”
He was right; Aubrey didn’t believe him. “Loki is chained to a boulder far beneath the earth, being driven mad by the poison of a snake.”
“I told you wouldn’t believe me.”
“That’s because it’s impossible,” Aubrey replied. This god – whoever he was – was just delusional. “So, Loki, tell me what’s going to happen here.”
“You’re going to get out of the car and enter your home where you will be imprisoned and used as a bargaining chip.”
Aubrey smirked. “By you, I take it.”
The god cocked his head to one side. It was a very avian action. “You find that amusing. Why?”
Aubrey turned his head to look at the guy. “Because you aren’t Loki.”
The other man shrugged. “Believe me, or not. The outcome will not change.”
“All right,” he conceded. “You’re going to imprison me, then what? Why are you doing all this? What do you hope to achieve? I’m at the top of the food chain. There’s no one out there who is going to bail me out, so this whole exercise is pointless.”
That statement made the god frown. “I don’t understand that phrase – being at top of the food chain – but you are wrong. There is someone who will do everything in her power to bail you out, as you put it.”

Dodging Eros by: Cardyn Brooks w/ Interview

Title: Dodging Eros
Author: Cardyn Brooks
Series: Stand Alone
Genre: Erotica
Publisher: Private Moments Publishing
Release Date: Jan 21 2016
Edition: eBook & Print
Blurb/Synopsis:
When is love a safe haven, a shield or a launch pad? When is it a mine field or a trap?                                                            Dodging Eros, Through Past, Present and Pleasure is something different about love.
Cupid is not simply a cherubic prankster.
Cupid is a tireless hunter. He’s dangerous.
While men and women bait and lure each other into the tricky gauntlet of attraction, Cupid circles, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Siblings Danya, Monica, and Warwick Fullerton come from a family tradition of love that endures. They understand the risks and rewards of loving and being loved, but the intersection of the politics of pleasure with the evolution of 21st-century society versus entrenched ideas about who is expected to love whom challenges them to fight for their beliefs, which differ from their parents’ ideas.
Dodging Eros uses the early 20th-century past as prologue about the present day to frame the generational shifts in the risks of loving and being loved as the Fullertons confront their personal demons and battle The Fellowship, a secret society of power brokers conceived during the era of U.S. Prohibition now expanded into a modern international network of corruption.

Bossy v. Moody
Danya and Rick: Their Beginning
Mona Fullerton snagged her husband’s upper arm and tugged until he slowly stepped a few paces backward out of the short hallway in front of the food prep area and into the walk-in pantry in their family bakery in Darlingfield, Virginia.
“Stop looking at our new worker like you’re planning to put him in a headlock, John,” she whispered as they both watched Danya, their youngest child, show Frederick Maxwell how to knead and shape dinner rolls for the final rise. Mona thought the two young people looked adorable standing next to each other in their matching Full Bake ball caps and t-shirts.
“Oh, no, ma’am, a headlock is too good for that boy who keeps looking at our baby girl.” Bewilderment seeped through the menace in the soft growl of his whispered threat.
Mona shifted her gaze away from her daughter’s budding summer romance with the young man who was working off what he owed for his share of replacing the front window of the bakery when he and his friends decided in their drunken inspiration to use the wrought-iron bench on the sidewalk as a ramp for practicing their daredevil skateboard tricks. She thanked God that it was three skateboards instead of three bodies that crashed through the glass.
While her husband scowled at their daughter’s would-be beau, Mona studied John’s stern profile and still recognized the tenderhearted boy and former Black Panther civil rights activist in the man standing beside her.
“Rick is a decent boy, John. He stayed and waited for the police even though his two friends ran,” she said quietly, reminding him of facts he already knew.
She embraced him with one arm around his waist and squeezed when he chuffed with grudging acknowledgement.
“John, your ladybug is now a young woman who’s coming into her own power. We need to trust her to live her life based on everything we’ve taught her.
“Plus, this is just a summer flirtation. In six weeks Danya returns to State and Rick goes back to school in Colorado a few days later.”
Mona’s words were a consoling reminder to herself as well as to her worried husband because at first she had dismissed the idea that this smart, good-looking, privileged white boy was seriously interested in pursuing Danya. But weeks of observing the boy’s awareness of and attentiveness to Danya had made his respectful intentions obvious.
Rick also let Danya scold him about cheerful eye contact and using words instead of grunts when serving customers who might choose to buy their baked goods elsewhere from more courteous workers.
Mona couldn’t blame her daughter for being curious about Rick. She understood that times were different now. Interracial dating wasn’t as rare or dangerous as it had been during Mona’s younger years, but she believed that all three of her children would choose to marry Black people when they were ready to settle down. She needed to believe it for her own peace of mind.
“Come on, John,” she said. “Glaring at the boy won’t change anything. Let’s finish payroll.”
Mona counted his heavy sigh accompanied by his slow turn toward the business office as a win for all four of them--Danya, Rick, John and herself.

Blurb/Synopsis:
Fredrik is back from college and trying to stay out of his power-hungry brother’s way, until his brother takes a prisoner for his pleasure. Unable to tolerate his family’s cruelty, Fredrik overcomes his fear to help her escape back to her pack. There, he meets Christopher, and their instant attraction tells him Christopher is the one. However, since the threat of his brother remains, Fredrik is reluctant to pursue a relationship.
Christopher is still figuring out his place in the pack and has been living on his own to avoid making waves with his brother, Mikael. Now he’s met his soulmate, and he’ll do anything to take care of his love, including rejoining the pack.
With coaxing, Fredrik accepts his feelings, and Christopher’s pack gives him the home he’s never had. But Fredrick soon realizes he should keep running. His brother is on his tail and will stop at nothing to obtain the power he craves, especially when he realizes the source of the power could be Fredrik himself.

“Let’s go for a run. I need to hunt something,” Juneau said as Fredrik reached the door to his room and went inside. He closed the door as silently as he could and stood stock-still, trying not to breathe so he could hear them.
The front door opened and closed. Fredrik hoped they had all gone, but it was likely one of the dipshit twins had been left behind. He listened at the door and then opened it slightly, scenting for anyone in the house. He could smell fear and hear soft sobs from the room next door, but that was all. He stepped out of the room as a chair scraped on the floor. Just as he suspected. Squaring his shoulders, Fredrik walked back toward the open central room.
Dimitri sat at the table, staring off into space. “What are you up to? Juneau said I was to stay here and keep an eye on you and his present.” He grinned like an idiot. “But I was thinking that maybe you could be my present.” He stood. “A hole’s a hole, right? Besides, I bet you’d like what I got for you.”
Fredrik swallowed hard. “I don’t think so. You aren’t my type.”
“I ain’t, huh? I’m a guy and you like guys, so I figured I could see what all the fuss was about.” He stepped closer, and Fredrik took a small step back. Dimitri stomped his foot and then laughed. “I ain’t gonna soil myself with the likes of you. You can stop looking like you’re gonna jump through the roof.” He walked to the small table near the old sofa, yanked open the drawer, and pulled out a deck of cards. He began shuffling again and again, the snap and thump sounds filling the small space.
Fredrik’s throat was bone dry, so he pulled open the refrigerator door and got some water. Inge had left too, so it was only Dimitri and him. His gaze kept going to the door of Juneau’s room. There was a girl in there frightened half to death. The scent was enough to turn his stomach again. He opened the bottle, rinsed his mouth, and spat into the sink. Then he took a long drink, the liquid settling in his stomach with a hollow thud. He closed the door and opened one of the kitchen drawers. He needed a weapon, anything at hand, if he was to have a chance against Dimitri. The guy was smaller than Yuri, but Fredrik was no match for him physically. Hell, he wasn’t a physical match for anyone in his family. His father had always called him his runt pup.
“What are you up to?” Dimitri didn’t even look up from his game.
“Just getting some water. You want some?”
“Nah. Get me a beer, though,” he said and played another card. “I got eyes in the back of my head. I’ll know if you pull anything.”
Fredrik opened the refrigerator again and got a beer. As he closed the door and pulled open the drawer next to it, he had to keep himself from whooping for joy. He’d found the knives. He picked out one and then carried the beer over to Dimitri and set it on the table.
“I know what you’re doing,” Dimitri said and grabbed his hand. “I know everything, and you’re just some runt. So don’t be thinking you’re going to try anything so you can get away. If I let you leave, Juneau will have my nuts, and I want them right where they are. And the only way you’re getting out of here is if I let you leave.”
“Is that so?” Fredrik jerked away and plunged the knife into Dimitri’s neck before pushing him forward onto the table. He managed to get out of the way of the blood, but it sprayed all over the floor. “You may think I’m small, you piece of shit, but I’ve got fight in me,” he said to blank eyes as Dimitri went completely still.
