Is there one holiday memory that stands out more than others?

When I was a child, we used to have Christmas with my grandmother.  That meant going over to her big house for the night.    She had an upstairs and a fireplace for Santa.  All the presents would be packed in the car and we’d drive over on Christmas Eve, drop everything off and then all go on to an extended family gathering for the night.  Afterwards it was back to grandma’s where we all went to bed and then come downstairs to the huge tree and all the presents to see what Santa had brought for us.  I remember coming down those stairs, being so very excited.  My parents and grandparents went to a great deal of effort to ensure that we had magical Christmases.

Amazon

How would you introduce your books to someone that has yet to read them?

I write in different genres and I have written 15 books so far. I am quite sure my readers would resonate with at least one or many of them, given the choice they have! I have written poetry and stories in genres like horror, children’s illustration, adult colouring books, thriller, fantasy, romance, both in fiction and non-fiction. I love the challenge of exploring different themes and pushing my boundaries!
Speaking specifically on my book: “Enigma”, it is my first take on erotic, passionate poetry. I have tried to visually create different scenes incorporating the human need and want to love, through pure emotion, passion and spiritual connection. There are small doses of lust sprinkled in, which simply is a beautiful extension of a deep bonding emitting from strong love. To summarize, the poems depict intimate moments and fantasies shared between lovers.
I am currently working on the sequel “Enigma II”, which I plan on publishing in the next few weeks! Look out for that…it will get raunchier!

What inspired you to start writing?

Going back to the time when I had just discovered my passion for writing; it was very sudden and I felt this strong urge to put down on paper all that was running through my mind…it was surreal! I distinctly remember words and sentences forming in my head spontaneously, where I couldn’t help but nervously try to jot it all down.
There is this feeling of peace that creeps into me whenever I go into the deep thought of my writing process. I have to say that life, everyday situations, injustices, my personal experiences are some of the things that inspire me to write.
Ideas come freely depending on my mental and emotional state at that point. I am very creative and so a simple thought can grow into quite an explosive volcano…if the need calls for it!
Without a doubt, it is the gradual creation of a simple thought into a persona-the protagonist, eventually building into your story…that intrigues me every time.
Being able to challenge the human mind; digging deep only to reveal an unexpected, fantastical play of words meant to entice human emotion is inspirational!

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

I have recently published the first 3 books in my Series of colouring books for adults. Apart from writing I love art…sketching, painting and so I devote a lot of time to it. Creating these books, though time consuming has been so much fun and personally rejuvenating. My aim is to help people find their peace and calm through “art-therapy”, something that is so essential in today’s stressful times.
I also read a lot and try to actively campaign and speak on topics focused towards helping and healing others to promote better relationship building.
Apart from the above, I also run my blog “chriselda.blog” and am currently working on future episodes for my podcast – “The 3 Pillars” and for my series - “ART-IS-IN” where I feature and interview many talented artists.

What's the hardest thing about writing?

I guess having writer’s block is the most common problem all writers face at some point in their career. Luckily, I haven’t been deeply impacted by it, or I have tried to work around it by taking a time-out and reading a lot, until my mind gets fictionally active again.
Another thing is sticking with a story till the end. As I work on many stories simultaneously, there have been times where one storyline captures my interest more than the others. This gets me so engrossed that I tend to stick with it and that leads me to neglect the others. I have to then somehow find it in me to push myself to get on with the other stories/books until completion….not an easy task!
If I could choose, I would spend my entire day writing or sketching. Unfortunately, I have other responsibilities so finding more time to devote to writing in my already busy schedule gets pretty challenging at times!

Do you listen to music while you write?

Sometimes…it depends! I use music if I need to create a specific mood or to get more deeply embedded into a certain mindset that the story/poem might need.
Other times, I'd rather not listen to music, especially if it seems to distract me from what I am trying to create or build into my writing.

What's been your favorite moment as an author?

Being able to see/hold my completed book!
The realization that it all started with me noting down just a few random thoughts, to creating characters…giving them a life of their own, growing with them, emoting with them to building up my story and then reaching a satisfying end is absolutely amazing!
The journey of unbelievable cycles you take as an author each and every time you write is incredible!
Lastly, the honest, well-appreciated feedback/review you get from your readers has the top-rank of my most cherished moments!

Heartward by: Andrew Grey w/Giveaway

Title: Heartward
Author: Andrew Grey
Series: Standalone
Genre:  M/M Contemporary Romance/ Gay Romance/ LGTBQA
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Release Date: Nov 12 2019
Edition/Formats Available In: eBook & Print (1st Edition)
Blurb/Synopsis:
Firefighter Tyler Banik has seen his share of adventure while working disaster relief with the Red Cross. But now that he’s adopted Abey, he’s ready to leave the danger behind and put down roots. That means returning to his hometown—where the last thing he anticipates is falling for his high school nemesis.
Alan Pettaprin isn’t the boy he used to be.  As a business owner and council member, he’s working hard to improve life in Scottville for everyone. Nobody is more surprised than Alan when Tyler returns, but he’s glad. For him, it’s a chance to set things right. Little does he guess he and Tyler will find the missing pieces of themselves in each other. Old rivalries are left in the ashes, passion burns bright, and the possibility for a future together stretches in front of them….
But not everyone in town is glad to see Tyler return….

A soft poke on the shoulder woke him, followed by another. Then a giggle and footsteps on the floor. Tyler kept his eyes closed, listening for another giggle and waiting for a pounce. When it came, Tyler held Abey as he tugged him up onto the bed, to much laughter. It had taken months to hear that expression of joy, and it rang in Tyler’s ears as the most wonderful sound on earth.
“I heard you,” his mother said as she cracked the door open.
Abey immediately stilled, grew silent, and then buried his face in the covers.
“That’s your grandma. She’s really nice. I promise.” Tyler held Abey closer and waited for him to lift his face out of the blankets. “It’s okay.” He sat up and lifted Abey along with him. He went right to him, burying his face in Tyler’s neck.
“I’m making you something to eat,” his mom said quietly.
“Thanks. I’m going to get him cleaned up, and then we’ll be out.” He held Abey tightly and grabbed some of their stuff. He had gotten used to doing a lot of tasks one-handed, and once his mom had gone and closed the door, Abey let Tyler put him down. Tyler grabbed some fresh clothes and things, then headed to the bathroom with Abey.
Tyler got Abey washed up and helped him dress. Abey wanted to do it himself, which took three times as long, but Tyler could be patient and was relieved that Abey was acting a little more like a normal three-year-old. “Are you hungry?”
Abey nodded.
“Grandma is making us something to eat.” Tyler knelt down right in front of him. “Your grandma is very nice, and she is going to love you a lot. I promise.” God, he wished he knew if Abey understood him at all. Most of the time, he talked but thought all of it went right over Abey’s head. Not that he could blame him. This entire situation was difficult for both of them, but all the change for Abey had to be overwhelming his young mind.
Abey hugged him around the neck, and Tyler lifted him up. Few things in the world were as rewarding as those hugs. He carried Abey out of the bathroom and back to the bedroom, where Tyler changed quickly and took Abey into the kitchen.

Twice Baked by Andrew Grey w/ Creative Post & Giveaway

Title: Twice Baked
Author: Andrew Grey
Series: Standalone
Genre:  M/M Contemporary Romance/ Gay Romance/ LGTBQA
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Release Date: Oct 9 2019
Edition/Formats Available In: eBook & Print (1st Edition)
Blurb/Synopsis:
When the pickiest eater in America is tapped to judge a cooking competition along with his chef ex-boyfriend, will it be a recipe for a second chance… or disaster?
Luke Walker’s humor about foods he can’t stand made him an internet celebrity and his blog, The Pickiest Eater in America, a huge hit. He plans to bring that same lighthearted comedy to the show—but he won’t be the only host.
Meyer Thibodeaux might be a famous chef, but he’s solemn, uptight, and closeted. He’s also Luke's ex. As different as they are, the sparks between Luke and Meyer never really went out, and as they work together, each begins to see the other in a new light, and the passion between them reignites, hot as ever. But secrets, gossip, and rumors on the set could sour their reunion.

Clare leaned forward. “What’s really the issue here? Does this have anything to do with Meyer Thibodeau?” The way she said that name and the glazed look in her eyes was almost more than I could stand. Thankfully it only lasted long enough for me to start grinding my teeth. “It does. I still can’t believe the two of you used to be together.”
“I told you that in confidence, and you had better not be spreading it around.” It was my turn to fix her with the scowl of death. “But yeah, I guess.”
Three years ago, about the same time that I’d started the blog, Meyer had been an executive chef in Philadelphia. He and I had been dating for nearly two years at that point. I knew it was a disaster waiting to happen, because Meyer hadn’t been willing to step out of the closet. The warning signs were there—I should have seen them. I really should have. Honestly, I can’t even blame Meyer, because it was my own damn fault. I fell in love with him.
Meyer had been doing a regular spot on one of the local television channels, and he’d gotten a call from the Cooking Network to come out so they could talk to him. Since then, he’d been all over the network and had become a television celebrity as well as a restaurateur, with customers packing every table in his restaurants each night.
“Did he shatter your heart into little pieces?” Clare asked.
“No. I can’t say that he did. I broke my own heart.” I sighed. “It would be so easy to blame Meyer, but he had been up front with me about what he was willing to do and how far he was willing to go. It sucked, but I was the one who kept hoping he would change and realize I was there and would be there when he allowed himself to be true to who he was.” I had been a fool of the highest order. “Then he got a call that was too good to pass up, and that was that. He was gone in a few weeks and went on to much bigger things and people than me.” I tried not to admit it, but I thought about him sometimes. I’d be flipping channels and catch one of the shows he was hosting, and I couldn’t help stopping just to watch him. Of course I didn’t tell Clare that. She didn’t have much time for “what could have been.” That wasn’t her thing, and I wished I could be more like her sometimes.
“That is the biggest bunch of bullshit I think I have ever heard in my life. A stand-up kind of guy would have broken it off. But I’m willing to bet that Meyer kept coming back to you even when you backed away.” She sighed, and I couldn’t deny it. “I know the type. I’ve dated plenty of losers in my life. The good ones are in hiding somewhere, or up in their apartments, blogging, and are gay.”

Pulling Strings by: Andrew Grey w/ Creative Post & Giveaway

Title: Pulling Strings
Author: Andrew Grey
Series: Standalone
Genre:  M/M Contemporary Romance/ Gay Romance/ LGTBQA
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Release Date: Sept 10 2019
Edition/Formats Available In: eBook & Print (1st Edition)
Blurb/Synopsis:
A high-stakes case of industrial espionage ties them together, but before they can pursue their attraction, they must find out who’s pulling the strings.
Devon Donaldson doesn’t know how a folio of stolen corporate secrets found its way into his bag, and certainly can’t think of anyone who’d want to frame him. The trouble is, he has to convince Powers McPherson.
Devon’s firm hired Powers to investigate the theft of a new banking system, and so far Devon is his only lead. While Powers’s gut tells him Devon is innocent, he has no intention of letting Devon out of his sight… for more than one reason. Working together to get Devon’s life back leads to feelings far beyond cooperation. But before they can act on them, they need to find the group of thieves’ intent on ruining Devon’s reputation.

His apartment wasn’t large, but it was plenty big enough for him, with a small bedroom off a decent-sized living room. He had a tiny kitchen, but it worked for his life. Most of the furniture he got at secondhand stores and the Salvation Army, carrying it back piece by piece. It made for an eclectic mix of things, but it was all his and this was home. He loved it… mostly because no one was going to take it away from him. No one would come in from work and tell him that tomorrow they were moving to yet another town, and that he’d have to attend another school with another group of kids that he was just going to start to get to know before he had to move again. This was stable; this was his.
Devon set his bag on the coffee table and went right to his refrigerator. After pulling out a bottle of cold water, he drank half of it and placed the remainder back inside to remain cold, before wandering into the bedroom to change out of his work clothes.
He put his shirt in the dirty clothes and hung up his pants and suit coat, along with the tie. He hoped he could get one more wear out of them before he had to have them dry-cleaned. Instead of hanging them in the closet, he put them in the bathroom near the open window, where a steady breeze could air them out for him. He tried to get a second wear out of his clothes in order to save some expenses, but it wasn’t always possible.
A pounding at his door made him jump. Devon hurried to pull on a pair of shorts and a T-shirt, rushed to the front door, and peered through the peephole. Tall, Dark, and Broody stood in his hallway, glaring back at him. “What do you want?” He wished he’d grabbed his cell phone off the dresser before coming out.
“I need to talk to you,” he said, pounding on the door once more. “You need to talk to me, or else you’ll talk to the police.”
Devon undid the latch, keeping the chain on, and cracked the door open. “I’m the one who’s going to call the police if you don’t go away.” He closed the door once again, glaring through the peephole. “Go away.”
“You need to talk to me, Devon,” he said, more softly but with the same urgency. “It’s important.”
“How do you know my name? Are you following me? You a stalker or something?” Devon leaned against the door, his leg shaking. Damn, he’d been looking forward to a quiet night. “Just go away.” He sounded whiny even to his own ears.
“We need to talk,” he repeated.
Devon pulled the door open slightly. “Why?” He peered out into the hall, wishing his neighbor was home, but she was away on vacation for the week visiting her kids. Mrs. Lowenski always knew what was going on and could be counted on to be nosy enough to call the police for him. As it was, he was on his own.
“I’m not a stalker, and I know you saw me at the gala. You are probably aware that Mrs. Mauer knows who I am.”
“She doesn’t like you,” Devon said.
He shrugged. “A lot of people don’t like me.”
“Let me see some identification,” Devon said, and the man pulled out a card and handed it to him. “Powers McPherson. Private security and investigations.” He turned the card over, but there was nothing else on the back. “This is really helpful.” Devon rolled his eyes. “Anyone can have business cards made up that say anything. Go away and leave me alone.”
“I’ve been hired by your company, and as I said, we need to talk. Now, we can do it like this in the hallway, or you can let me in.” He wore a suit that probably cost as much as Devon made in a week, and his shoes shone brightly. Powers didn’t look like the kind of guy who would mug someone, but Devon still wasn’t sure. Still, from what Marie had said, Powers worked for Mr. Mauer, and he didn’t want to get in trouble.

Heart Unbroken by: Andrew Grey w/ Creative Post & Giveaway

Title: Heart Unbroken
Author: Andrew Grey
Series: Hearts Entwined Series (Book 4)
Genre:  M/M Contemporary Romance/ Gay Romance/ LGTBQA
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Release Date: Aug 6 2019
Edition/Formats Available In: eBook & Print (1st Edition)
Blurb/Synopsis:
Car restorer Dean Milford knows how to make damaged things beautiful again. Only, after a bad breakup, he loses sight of who he is, playing the field and distracting himself with any man he comes across. But now there’s only one guy who really matters to him. And maybe with his latest restoration job—a vintage Cobra—he’ll get the chance to let him know.

Losing his sight wasn’t the worst thing to happen to Lee Studer—losing his independence was. It’s taken a while, but he’s finally found his place in the world—in a garage. Funny enough, his acute hearing allows him to pinpoint engine problems just by listening. And even better, he’s going to have a chance to help his long-time crush, Dean, rebuild his fantasy car.

As the restoration comes together, so do Lee and Dean, building a friendship that quickly turns into so much more. But before they can think about a future together, they have to deal with the past. Only that turns out to be more dangerous than either one ever dreamed….

“What the fuck?” Scott swore next to him. “Everything is messed up.” He pulled back his hand, and Lee listened as each drawer in the chest was opened and closed. “They all are. Shit, I’m going to kill whoever did this.” Scott turned and shouted for Brent to come over.
“What’s going on?’ Brent asked in his deep but kind of soothing voice. He must have been signing as he spoke, because Scott answered right away.
“Everything in Lee’s drawer is messed up. He needs his tools in the right place so he can find them easily.”
Lee stood to the side, his arms around his own chest. It seemed stupid, but the thought that someone had been in his things and messed everything up on purpose just about killed him. He’d probably have felt better if they’d just stolen them. That was impersonal. But messing everything up—that was close, intimate. They knew exactly what would upset him most.
Before losing his sight five years earlier, Lee had been a real slob. His mom had been forever asking him to clean his room. But once he couldn’t see, he’d learned from James that he needed to be organized and precise if he was going to be able to navigate his blindness in a sighted world.
Scott moved to stand right next to him, then hugged him tightly. “Scott, can you and Lee spend some time fixing his tools? I’m going to get the car for you and drive it into the bay. We’ll try to figure out who did this. Was the box locked?”
“Yes. I saw Lee unlock it. Someone just tipped the entire box on its side to mess it up.” He was angry and as pissed off as Lee was. “The bastards.”
“I’ll get to the bottom of it, but I don’t understand,” Brent said.
Lee didn’t either. As far as he knew, he was friends with everyone at work. All of the other guys had always been nice to him. They even helped him and offered to guide him if Scott wasn’t there. He trusted all of them. That’s what really hurt.
“Okay,” Scott said, then started opening the drawers. He set to work, the tools banging against the metal dividers as Scott set them back in place.
Lee stood out of the way and let Scott help him. He could identify his tools by their feel, but he needed them in their own places if he was going to find them easily.

Survive and Conquer by: Andrew Grey w/ Creative Post & Giveaway

Title: Survive and Conquer
Author: Andrew Grey
Series: Standalone
Genre:  M/M Contemporary Romance/ Gay Romance/ LGTBQA
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Release Date: July 9 2019
Edition/Formats Available In: eBook & Print (1st Edition)
Blurb/Synopsis:
Newton DeSantis was on the ground when the towers collapsed on 9/11. Though he still carries the scars on his body and his heart, he’s determined to ease some of the world’s suffering. Now a social worker and father to two children with special needs, he’s doing his best. But when his son’s health takes a drastic turn, Newton knows he can’t do it alone.
Family law attorney Chase Matthews is a rising star, and he’s in high demand. Still, Newton is very persuasive, and Chase takes his case pro bono. Everything about the other man appeals to Chase, but he’s determined to keep the relationship professional—even though, after meeting Newton’s kids, he wants to be a part of their lives.
Chase’s job doesn’t always allow him to pick his clients, though, and a case that could make him partner will put him on the opposite side of the courtroom from Newton—along with everything he believes in and the future they could build together.

Newton slowly ate his cake, watching that Eric didn’t gulp his and that Rosie didn’t make a huge mess. “Are you all done?” Newton asked the girls. “Then go wash up and you can play.” He cut Eric another small piece of cake because he didn’t seem to be able to get enough to eat. Eric took his plate and left the table to play video games, leaving the adults alone once again.
“Do you think you can help?” Newton asked Chase. He could see the indecision in his eyes.
“Yes,” he finally answered, sharing a smile with Angela before turning his intense gaze on Newton. “You sure don’t take no for an answer when you really want something.” He didn’t seem angry or upset. Chase passed Angela a business card. “Call my office and make an appointment for next week. Bring all the documentation. We’ll develop a strategy and counter these arguments before they can really take hold.” Chase pushed away from the table. “I need to get going.” He stood, with Newton and Angela both doing the same.
Newton saw Chase to the door. “Thank you for helping her,” he said softly. “I know I came on strong, but….”
Chase actually smiled. “You’re a man who follows his passions, I can see that. You have strong beliefs and are willing to fight for them. That’s something worth admiring, and—”
Angela hurried over. “There’s something wrong with Eric. He’s having trouble breathing.”
Newton hurried to the family room, where Eric sat in the chair, gasping for breath. Newton took his pulse and found it racing.
“What do you need me to do?” Angela asked.
“I need to get Eric to Children’s Hospital right away,” Newton said with remarkable calmness.
“Should I call an ambulance?” Chase asked.
“No. They aren’t going to know what to do for him,” Newton said as Chase lifted Eric into his arms and carried him through the house. “Rosie,” he called, “go get in the car, right now! We have to take care of Eric.”
“I’ll get him into the car,” Chase said.
“We have to go. Rosie, hurry, we need to go.” His heart raced as Chase carried Eric to the car, thinking only of his son. This had happened before, but it had been months since he’d had an attack. They used to scare the hell out of him, but he knew what to do now. So did Rosie, who brought the backpack he kept in Eric’s closet and climbed into her car seat. Newton got Eric settled in the back and told him to stay calm. Angela was already leaving the house with the girls as Newton climbed in the car. Chase raced back and locked the house.
Newton jumped when the passenger door opened and Chase got in, buckling up. “Let’s get going.”
“You don’t need to….” Newton began even as his hand put the car into reverse and he backed out of the drive, then took off down the road like a bat out of hell.
“Can you talk to me, Eric?” Newton asked.
“Yes,” he said raspily.
“What do you need me to do?” Chase asked, turning toward the back seat.
